My Story...
My Name is Helen, I founded my wonderful pole academy POLE CONTROL 11 years ago in 2009. My love of dancing started at a young age! as a small child I enjoyed taking ballet lessons and growing up had a real passion for amateur dramatics, performing in many youth musicals!
I discovered pole dance in 2004, participating in my first public performance in 2005 at the Paignton Bike Show with The Art of Dance.
In my late teens I moved to Mallorca where I danced for two years in some of the most famous clubs in Europe! As one of the top dancers (well known for my death defying tricks and stage presence!) I also secured the roll of managing the other dancers and giving pole instruction to those that required it.
On moving back to the UK, I worked in Brighton offering pole dancing classes to hen parties, before moving to Essex in 2009 to establish my very own school of pole fitness, known as POLE CONTROL. After an incredibly successful 11 years of teaching in Essex, I have made the very brave decision to relocate back to Devon with my family for a better quality of life.
With many of my clients (or as I call them, my 'pole family') now considered friends for life and business booming, leaving everything behind to start again is quite daunting but I'm excited to start on this new journey and share my love of pole with you all.
I am qualified, Insured and first aid trained, I'm also a PDC (Pole Dance Community) approved instructor and pole school. I take the safety and wellbeing of all of my clients incredibly seriously, operating strict levels of cleanliness when it comes to my teaching environment and equipment, and I use crash mats when teaching all aerial disciplines. I encourage a fun and engaging atmosphere in classes and welcome people of all ages, sizes and abilities to come and give it a go! you may be surprised by what you can do.
